Today I feel like doing something different on the blog, let's see what comes out, I hope you like it.<\/p>\n

Those of you who have travelled with me in Africa surely know my weakness for acacias, baobabs and Senegalese palms, but as there are none of those here, I am going to tell you about a tree that has impressed me, the bristlecone pine (I don't have the n.p.i. of its translation into English).<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Well, while I'm talking about it, I'm going to show you some photos that I have taken with that art that characterises me and that have produced so many exclamation marks among my cultivated readers.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

And I also propose a competition. I will draw a surprise intangible prize of inestimable value (at least for the one who gives it, maybe for the one who wins it it seems a little less) from among those who bet on the photo that receives the most votes (if anyone votes).<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

In the absence of a notary, the draw will be held at Hooters, where the innocent hand of one of the waitresses will draw the winning ballot (and for the record, I have gone to the place now with the sole intention of checking the suitability of the conditions of the premises for such an event). After much study of this tree, I am more and more convinced that it is the closest thing to the human being:<\/p>\n

He insists on living in an area with the best possible views.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Even if it is not the best place and it means that he has to writhe in pain and suffering in order to survive.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

There are those who insist on appearing much more than they are, or deluded people, like this tree that believes that the shadow it sees is its own.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

and others are a bit of a ghost<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Some humans are just like this other tree, exactly that, a log with eyes, a piece of wood.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

and others are too convoluted.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Once dead, they remain for hundreds of years upright and anchored to the ground where they lived and from what they were, other beings continue to live (this is where you have to put your imagination to the metaphor).<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

You see, I've \"messed up\" and I don't know whether I was talking about men or pines. It scares me to think what I am going to tell you, but I suspect that man is not descended from the monkey, but from the pinus bristelconensis. They have been fooling us all these years! This may change science... I'm afraid...<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Someone should take the matter into their own hands and either they should compare the DNA of pines and men to prove my theory, or else they should make my gin and tonics a little less strong, because I can see that I'm already raving about it...<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

They even have their own cemetery!!!<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Anyway, as you can see, I was not exaggerating when I said that this tree has me in a state of permanent slumber.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

And to finish I leave you with the one I identify myself with the most: strong, noble, slender, powerful, right? incredible resemblance?<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

A while ago my mother told me that she also makes a collection of trees. Like father, like son... and in this case never more appropriate, I hope you like these.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

And of course, a bit of wikipedia: They are also called \"long-lived pine\", and there are two specimens of the subspecies Mathusalen which are the longest living beings on Earth, with almost 5000 years. There was one more, but it was cut down by a moron, and since then its location has been hidden (the location of the trees).<\/p>\n

It's amazing what a game a few trees can be (especially considering that I haven't said anything interesting, I'm aware of that).<\/p>\n
