Senegal has been the trip we all dreamed of. From Dakar to quad biking across Lac Rose and the ocean dunes, or sleeping in the desert under a spectacular sky, or visiting tiny indigenous villages that reminded us of what really matters. I found the trip to Senegal very curious, original, special and different from other trips to Europe, America and Asia. It is true that what you see is very different, the people, the way they dress, the poverty, the dirt, the colours of women's clothes, the landscapes and very different places, seeing the Dakar LIGHTHOUSE and having dinner there. The stone, as an architect, almost didn't interest me. I was struck by some of the remains of the buildings that are left from the French colonisation, which are few and far between and in ruins. On the other hand, I really liked the landscape, the way of life, the pink lake, the Lompul desert, the loving and striking people, the buggies of Saint Louis, and the one we took to see hyenas or jackals when they came out of the mangroves, the islands of Goree, with the black slavery, the shell island, the campsites or lodge, the ornithological and wild animal parks, the trees like the Baobab, big and small, the gigantic delta of Sine Saloum, the mangrove swamps. A variety of original and very different elements. I think it is worth seeing.
We travelled as a whole family, six people, my children are older, and we had a great time. The trip was very well organised from the beginning, both in the preparations from Madrid with Pedro and Rafa, and in Senegal with the guide Carlos. It has been a real pleasure. But be warned, you have to like Africa, it has nothing to do with the typical tourist trip. It has been a real pleasure, and without a doubt "Desertando" a 10. We will repeat to other places.
Unimaginable experience for the thirty people in the company who lived it. The contact with the desert, the light, the faces, the food, the fragility and the perfect organisation changed our outlook and our priorities. The trip to Botswana was an incredible experience for me: a varied and very special route, far from what is usually seen in the usual guidebooks, a permanent accompaniment, unique landscapes... I just missed staying more days! I will definitely repeat with Desertando
Burkina Fasso and Benin was an incredible journey through some of the most beautiful places I can remember; surrounded by wonderful people, those I wore and those I met there, from whose hand we enjoyed bustling visits surrounded by children in the Tata Somba fortress houses or religious ceremonies in stilt houses on the water in Ganvie. But the journey was much more and the road surprised us with incredible experiences. It took us to the cradle of Voodoo. Hilarious and very, very, very, special. We will continue discovering Africa with Desertando!
My experience in Namibia with DESERTANDO was magnificent. Namibia is a destination of personal sensations, different for each traveller, with grandiose landscapes, wild nature and millenary tribes. Pedro made us see the country with that magical African light at different times of the day.
We are frequent travellers (2 or 3 times a year for the last 30 years) but last year's trip to Ethiopia with trip with Desertando to Ethiopia last year was "special" because of the destination and the the destination and the organisation: close, personal, careful, safe and with a lot of love with a lot of love, here and there. My experience in Morocco with DESERTANDO was rewarding and full of sensations. The Ergchegaga Route in 4x4 was spectacular and full of contrasts. From desert landscapes to oasis of palm trees. Palaces, adobe houses and their interiors full of life and splendour. Rafa and the Berber guide, Mubarak, took us with their tongues hanging out but we had a great time.
