22 Oct Towards the great dune of Merzouga (Part II)
Finally I have some time to post the second proposal of the trip.
The first part is the same as the previous one, visit to Ait Benhadou, the night in ouarzazate, so I skip it.
The variation is that before reaching Zagora, we turn east towards the great dune of Merzouga, and then return to Ouarzazate from the north in a circular route.
The road to Merzouga is incredible, dotted with palm groves, rock formations, dromedaries, and on many occasions, nothing...
At the end of the day we will arrive in Merzouga with time to see a spectacular sunset, which we will enjoy, gin and tonic in hand, watching the impressive reddish colour of the dunes.
In them we can take a sand bath, which will leave our skin like a baby's bottom, I don't know if it's smooth or dirty, because after getting in there, the days go by and you keep throwing sand...
The next two nights we will sleep in a tent, to enjoy the starry nights of the desert, which are not to be missed.
Here you know that I'm more of a comfort person and I like these places.
But I can become a perrofflauta for a few days and sleep in something less elaborate.
But we will never lack a good fire to chat with him, and a glass of gin and tonic.
The next morning we will do a tour through the dunes, we could do it by motorbike,
but I have to admit that it was hell, so we'll do it by buggie and you'll see how far these things are capable of climbing.
Afterwards we will return to Ouarzazate by another impressive route on horseback along the Draa river.
But first we will cross the palm forests of the oases of Erfud and Rissani.
Here we will stop to see the local market, and even if we meet these people, who are missing one for the mus, we will have a game.
What a pity because the moussem (festival) of the dates of Erfoud is now in October, and we could take the famous dates deglet nour, but that's OK, because if we make the trip in May, we can go to the moussem of the roses of Kelaa Mogouna, which is very close.
We will spend the last night in the tinrerhir palm groves and visit the Todra Gorges.
And we will return to Ouarzazate to take the plane back home.
And these are my proposals. I hope you liked them. Now you can understand why this part of the world has touched my liver (as the Berbers say, although it seems a bit less romantic). But wait to see it live...
