In this route we propose you to explore the country on horseback from the River GambiaThis is the best way to get to know the different cultures that settled along the river; Mandingoes on the north bank and Diolas and Fulas on the south. Separated by the river and linked by several ferries, as there are no bridges there.
We will sail it in a private boat, feeling like Marlow in the Congo, captains of our own adventure. We will arrive in the hidden paradise in the sacred forest of Makasutu and to Sita Joyeh, a small island inhabited by gigantic hundred-year-old baobabs. We will continue, on foot, to visit the riverside villages, lose ourselves in a colourful market and enjoy the contact with the people, which is the land of the easy smile for a reason.
We will follow in the footsteps of those explorers like Mungo Park, who went up the river in pursuit of their dream of finding Timbuktu. Along the way we will find gems such as St Jamesthe island of slaves or the Bao Bolong wetlandin front of the camp of Tendabaone of the best birdwatching areas in the world, all the way up to the Janjanbureh IslandIts old jetty, overrun by monkeys and surrounded by several bright red flamboyant trees, keeps the halo of adventure and romanticism intact.
The adventure will end with you enjoying both the secluded beaches of the south coast and the hustle and bustle of the Tanji beach the arrival time of the fishermen and we are sure to enjoy some dinner in the vicinity of Banjul with the incredible music of our friend Barry and the Mbalax, that impossible dance...
