USA: The whale dance

I am often so intent on driving thousands of kilometres in pursuit of dreams that I don't realise that sometimes what I am looking for passes by my front door.

and this seems like a parable of my life, (which it is) because of something I saw this weekend right here in Virginia Beach, and which has me very excited.

It turns out that humpback whales come to Virginia during these months to mate. This is where these critters have me a bit confused, because they must be the only living beings that come to Virginia for this purpose, !! if this is boring as hell !!! (although maybe this is one of the reasons why they are in danger of extinction...).

So on Saturday I went on a little boat, to see if I could get lucky and see them (not mating, I'm not that bad yet...).

But of course, one of the drawbacks of wildlife is that they appear when they want to, so we spent two long hours of fruitless searching. Just in case, when we were about to give up and go back to the coast, I tried saying that universal call phrase that mysteriously all animals understand: piiiiiiiiiiit, pitas pitas pitas, pitas....

and then a huge whale appeared, which according to my calculations was about 20 metres long, (as you can imagine, I have probably underestimated the number of metres, so let's round it up to 30 to be more exact).

The bad thing is that as I am so "smart", that just when I started to dance for us, I realised that my camera had run out of battery and that I couldn't take any more pictures. But in order not to leave you with the desire to see more pictures of my whale, I decided to make some sketches. They are not like the photos, but they have the charm of craftsmanship.

yet the picture has more resolution than the camera of my "latest generation" nokia ....

The stories of mermaids have their origins in the song of the humpback whale that made sailors fall in love. Tastes have evolved a lot, because I think they're cute, but from there to falling in love... Just in case, I covered my ears, I didn't want to see myself at this point eloping with one of them.

Well, I'm aware that this entry doesn't give much more than that. What a marine Saturday I've had, first whale watching, then seal watching at night in downtown (sorry for being so vulgar, but it just slipped out), and to round off the day, I had a crab feast with that spicy sauce that they know how to make here like nowhere else.

As I love the sea, I should have become a sailor...

I hope that on your next trip to Spain you will bring a little bit of this sauce for us to try.

That's done, but it's not enough just to pour the sauce, you have to cook something, and that's where I get confused.

What I like the most are the super eyelashes you put on the whale.............. she looks like a drag queen.............................
    How wrong you are Carlitos!

is that the one with the eyelashes was the one I was looking at the most. Everything is going well, I'll let you know, but I don't rule out the possibility of escaping for a few days for a whirlwind trip to Africa. I'll let you know. Kisses and a hug to Pedro.

    Happy New Year.
Don't go back to Spain, it's getting worse every day.
Inexplicably afloat despite the fact that, as Von Clausewitz said, most of us Spaniards are determined to sink it.
    A hug.

Carlitos I don't know but I see you more for the dunes than for the water, don't you? We already know the trip for this year, we are going to your territory. Kenya and Zanzibar. Kisses

Yeah, I'm more of a dune rider myself, but you can see that I'm good in all environments. One day you'll have to let me organise the trip for you, it will be another concept....

Carlos, you're a meaty piece of meat. How I miss a few weeks in sub-Saharan Africa in good company, and not exactly of cephalopods... A big hug.

Petardo, those cetaceans look fat, but I think we have seen African women of almost the same size and adipose mass. You're dead envious, eh? for Mali, the French are taking a stroll to bring those unredeemed heathens to heel, where you, a year ago, did nothing but run away to the south of the country "in case the bad guys came", heh, heh, heh, heh, ...

I hope everything goes well and you don't get so bored (you can say what you want, but you don't stop making trips to see the country)... Ah!!! I have already received the package in my account. Thank you and a hug
